One day left and the new season of NBA will commence. The 72nd season is earlier than the previous seasons to reduce back-to-back games. The first day will start with two games between the runner-ups from the Western and Eastern Conference.

About four months after the 2017 NBA Finals, the fall season in October signals the start of another season. A season lasts for eight months with four days break in throughout the course.

The last NBA Finals resulted to the third ring for Golden State Warriors. This season was also the first MVP title of Kevin Durant since he first joined the GSW team. The final games lasted only for five games with Cleveland Cavaliers winning just one. Thus, the strongest team got to overwhelm the opposing Cavs with four games to one.

Changes in the New Season of NBA

With this new season, many basketball fans and experts expect for both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors to meet in the final round. If this will happen, new NBA history will be accomplished. The two teams will meet for the fourth time in the fourth consecutive year. The powerhouse players such as LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant will remain to their respective teams.

Rushing in the new season, some changes have been made. Retirements were round the corner and fans will not get to see Paul Pierce of Boston Celtics, Jason Maxiel of Detroit Pistons, and the others starting this year.

Uniforms of the teams will also make their new appearance in the upcoming season. Such teams with new uniforms after revealing their new logos are the Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indian Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Portland Trail Blazers.

The pacing and flow of the game will also change. NBA made some changes on the maximum number of timeouts of a team throughout the game from 18 down to 14. Furthermore, instead of 3 timeouts per team in the last 2 minutes of the game, NBA made it two timeouts per unit within the final 3 minutes. This means that there’s a long time to play on, but coaches can only call a timeout just twice. This move of NBA will surely bring immense pressure to the team at a disadvantage. As known, timeouts sometimes helped in the past to break the momentum or streak of a winning team.

Changing teams with the start of the new season are not anything new. One of the most controversial though is Kyrie Irving’s move from Cleveland Cavaliers to Boston Celtics. He’s now one of the powerhouse players in Boston Celtics along with Gordon Hayward. Dwyane Wade will come in Cleveland Cavaliers from the Chicago Bulls. This lineup will serve as a reunion between James and Wade. Other new faces in the Cavaliers are Derrick Rose, Jae Crowder, and Isaiah Thomas.
